Georgia D. Provost is a retired educator, Houston business owner and community civic leader.
Provost is a proud graduate of the historic Texas Southern University, School of Technology; with advanced studies at the University of Houston, Rice University, Winona National School of Professional Photographers, Intercollegiate Press and Associated Photographers.
Provost is the owner of Provost Studios, Texas’s Leading Professional Photographers.
For 50+ years Georgia Provost has been an active civic leader and community service volunteer in Harris County. She has participated in the business, cultural, educational, humanitarian, political and religious/spiritual sectors of Greater Houston’s life. Her role in the Helfman/Provost Fundraising Team is to raise funds for injured or fallen law enforcement officers and their families, MHMRA, KTSU, TSU and other charitable organizations.
Provost is a member of –The Rotary Club of Hermann Park, Member-The Anti-Racism and Diversity Committee, Committee member- TSU Strategic Plan 2015-2020, Board member-Youth Freedom Institute, Board member-Jack Yates National Alumni Association, Creator/Consultant, TSU Community Awareness Program (CAP), Community Relations Director-Houston Forward Times Newspaper, Director-Youth for Christ Foundation and Women for Christ, Executive Director, TSU Bayou Bend Alumni/Ex-Students Association, Inc.,
(Friends & Supporters), Director, TSU “Do The Math” Campaign (raises funds for scholarships and students services), Member-Harris County Council of Organization, Proud and active member of the Our Mother of Mercy Parish, Member NAACP Economics Committee, Coordinator-Civil Rights Educational Classes, President-Parish Involvement Communications Committee (PICC), a Champion for Amazing Youth, Founder-Five E’S of Economics Institute, and Founder-Black & Brown Coalition for Education. Life member, NAACP and TSU National Alumni Association.
Provost has been active in the Houston Community, attended the Houston Police Academy for five years; Former board member, Houston Area Urban League, YMCA, Julia C. Hester House; Former Grand Jury Member, Former Grand Jury Commissioner; Former Six-Year PTA President, Ryan Middle and Jack Yates High Schools; Former Six-Year Den Mother, Boy Scouts of America, Lockhart Elem.; Former Volunteer, Windsor Village and McDade Elementary Schools; Served on The Harris County Appraisal District (ARB) for Six Years; and Texas Southern University Ambassador since l959.
Her Photography firm has served as the official photographers for the Southern University System, Dillard, Xavier, Grambling, Texas Southern, Texas College, Wiley College, Jack Yates, Wheatley, Sterling, Jones, Worthing, Kashmere, Barbara Jordan, Carver High Schools and a host of Middle and Elementary Schools.

Provost is a Retired Educator, Professional Photographer, Photojournalist, Historian, Common Sense Public Speaker, Fundraiser, Special Events and Community Outreach Consultant and a Life-Long Volunteer.
A native of Lafayette, Louisiana, Provost was married to the late Herbert J. Provost, TSU’s International Collegiate Championship Tennis Coach, the winningest tennis coach in SWAC history as well as President Carter’s Ambassador to Nigeria’s Tennis Tournament and founder of Provost Studios. They have one son, Jerome K. Provost, a Professional Photographer, also.
